What should be checked before replacing a pool deck?
Document the coping condition, existing drains, deck slope, equipment access and elevations at doors. A new surface must work with the pool shell and adjoining patio, not just cover the old deck.
Is travertine always the best pool-deck material?
No single material suits every site. Compare current samples for wet traction, color, texture, thickness and compatibility with the installation system and pool edge. Surface temperature changes with sun and color.
Can the pool coping stay while the deck is replaced?
It depends on its condition, elevation and how the new pavers will terminate. We inspect the joint and edge before deciding whether reuse is practical or a coordinated coping replacement is cleaner.
How is water kept away from the house?
The plan should identify existing deck drains, finished slopes and where runoff is permitted to go. Pool splash and irrigation should not be trapped at doors or against walls.
