Can stone veneer go over any existing wall?
No. The substrate must be sound and compatible with the selected adhered or mechanically attached system. Cracking, loose stucco or moisture problems should be corrected before covering the surface.
What happens at the top of an exterior veneer wall?
A cap or flashing detail should direct water away from the face. Poor termination can allow moisture behind the finish and stain or loosen the veneer.
How should stone color be selected?
Review physical samples on the actual property in sun and shade. Natural stone varies in thickness and tone; manufactured stone can vary between runs, so a mockup helps confirm the joint and corner treatment.
What determines the scope and price?
Wall area, substrate preparation, corners, openings, access, trim, cap or flashing and the selected veneer system all matter. A quote should distinguish surface preparation from the visible finish.
